Book Reviews
Excellent continuation of first book
I picked up Aromaticus Kauai and read it on the plane on a recent trip. It really captured my attention. It renewed my acquaintance with the characters in Quitclaim Sedona (Sapphire, Farrell, Judith and Sofia) and introduced us to a couple of new characters...Dani, a woman with many secrets and Kai and his family, natives of Kauai. Sapphire's Aunt Star has died un- expectedly and Sapphire inherits some items from her aunt...a shawl, a ring and a note from Dani whom she had never met. Eventually Sapphire and her friends all go to Kauai to meet Dani and find out the secret that Sapphire's parents died to protect. There is quite a lot of exposition. The secret reveal covers many chapters and in between the storytelling, there are descriptions of the many wonders of Kauai. There is a twist ending and I do have to say, I didn't see that coming. I had my idea of what the twist would be but I was wrong. I really enjoyed the book. I have not been to Kauai but have been to Maui and Oahu and if Kauai is as magical, it would be worth visiting. I can hardly wait for the next book in the Renae Lapin mystery series. —RA
Another great mystery from Renae Lapin
Aromaticus Kauai, Renae Lapin’s second mystery, has all of the charm and all of the suspense of her first novel. I loved the characters along with the gripping plot. I highly recommend you read it. —DL
A Hawaiian Mystery Revealed
A deft move westward for a cast of characters we first encountered in Quitclaim Sedona to the island of Kauai in the Hawaiian archipelago. Here we meet a new figure, Dani—a woman with many mysteries to reveal that will change the lives of everyone. As with Quitclaim Sedona, Aromaticus Kauai is distinguished by the author’s ability to paint scenes like a landscapist so that Kauai—like Sedona in Lapin’s first novel— becomes a lead character in its own right. If you enjoyed Quitclaim Sedona, you will not be disappointed with Aromaticus Kauai—definitely recommended. —DS
Hidden Histories Unfold - Great Story!
This is a story of friendships deepened by longings to understand the past, and find love and peace in the present. As their histories are revealed, the characters come to terms with who they are and what they want to do. The backdrops of Kauai and Sedona provide the landscapes for the special places where the characters discover what is important. Renae Lapin offers us a mystery that unfolds complex and difficult family stories, while creating hope for the future. The characters and their friendships allow us all to keep aspiring for a better world. Highly recommend this mystery! —HS
Wonderful book
The second book in the author’s series reconnects the reader to the main characters from her first book. It is quite rewarding to again spend time with these intriguing characters as they collaborate on solving a fascinating mystery. A terrific new addition to a series that provides a great story, compelling characters and a great sense of place.

KIND WORDS FROM MY READERS
Superb Sedona!
Superb first mystery from the author, with an intriguing cast of characters whose multiple layers of interaction enrich and deepen the reader’s interest. But the real protagonist is Sedona itself, whose character and role in the unfolding narrative are never far from the surface. An excellent, well-written first effort in what promises to be a string of subsequent thrillers. —DL
